James Grigson

Full-stack Rails developer in Tokyo. I build apps that take something you upload and do something useful with it: read a bill in another language, put a shirt on you before you buy it, or turn what you're watching into Japanese practice.

Somani

Team project

A study app for JLPT N2 learners that turns the media you consume into roleplay adventures. I built the background job that scans uploaded media and maps each word to its JLPT level, and the logic that generates an adventure from the words you save.

  1. Upload something you watched or read
  2. Save the words you want to learn
  3. Play an adventure built from them
